New Look For Our Website

Last week we rolled out a new website design. The big thing is a completely new look. Much more dynamic than the old site, we hope that it will provide a better viewer experience.

There have been a few bugs and some parts of the site are still being worked on. Everything is functional however, we are just tweaking things now. The blog is still based on out old design, but that should change soon.

Up to now our website used WordPress as a content management system. With this revision we have switched to the Jooma! CMS (our blog is still on WordPress). This has been a learning experience, but we are getting up to speed.

One thing that we have changed is the way our videos are viewed. In the past we had a viewer window in the middle of the page with a playlist at the bottom. This could be confusing. Now when you click on one of the thumbnail images on our gallery page, the video will start playing in a popup window.

Comments are welcome, as well as letting us know about anything that doesn’t work. Last week one of our clients (thank you Liz!), informed us that she couldn’t access the site at all. As it turned out there was a bug that prevented the website from working with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Since IE is the browser used by 2/3 of our visiters, this was a very serious problem. Fortunately the fix didn’t take too long. I usually test change with the four most popular browsers (Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox, and Safari), but for some reason I didn’t test a recent change that had been made.
